Location: This position will require candidates to work within the Day Service, Castleknock Community Centre.
Purpose of job
The purpose of the Open Opportunity Programme with Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland is to provide a quality, person-centred service which sees a profound impact on the lives of the service-users involved. This progress is achieved through a daily programme of varied Person-Centred activities which are facilitated by the Open Opportunity Programme team, designed by the Service Manager.
The SBHI Open Opportunity Service Key Worker & Arts Facilitator is responsible for the facilitation of the HSE New Directions implementation, working with the team to populate the Easi-Tool, updating all relevant files and Person-Centred Plans, as outcomes from these plans the Key Worker & Arts Facilitator will then be responsible to plan and organise the Aims, Goals and Activities outlined by each Service User and support them to achieve. This work will be carried out along with the programme team and the Manager in the Community Hub in Castleknock, or wherever the requested destination is determined by the Service and/or Manager.
Key tasks
· To liaise with the Service Manager to facilitate implementation of tasks
· To work and directly support service users to achieve their goals, aims & Activities outlined in their Person Centered Plan.
· Implement and maintain HSE Interim Standards in all areas of the Programme
· Work with Team to populate the New Directions Easitool
· Updating and creating and reviewing Person Centered Plans in conjunction with Service Users, staff and manager
· HSE Day Opportunities Administrative Support
· Develop interventions and pathways in relation to Mind and Body Wellbeing
· Report all safeguarding issues and issues of concern to the Programme Manager and Safeguarding Officer.
· Organise & Assist service users to part take in work tasks and general activities as requested/required by the daily programme.
· Facilitate Music Classes.
· Facilitate sessions and outings pertaining to The Arts.
· Facilitate Holistic Sessions in the Area of Meditation, Martial Arts etc.
· Protect clients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
· Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies, as resources allow.
· Comply with State and local legal certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
· Assist in fundraising endeavors as part of the long-term sustainability of the programme and wider work of SBHI.
· Attend respite events where and when requested/required.
· Proactively liaise with colleagues as part of the Open Opportunity team and wider SBHI staff.
· Attend supervision and staff meetings.
· Plan, prepare and facilitate programmes in relation to Key Worker Role
· To ensure clients are afforded dignity, respect, and due care and attention in an atmosphere of confidentiality and equality and respecting the right of the client to make choices for themselves.
· To promote the concept of independent living and personal assistance to clients, and to encourage them to participate in opportunities for employment and education, suitable for their needs.
· To assist SBHI from time to time with its various projects in and outside your designated region including the summer independence project, seminars, training, workshops, away weeks, grant applications etc.
· To network and advocate on behalf of your clients with others, including the CEO, Manager, other SBHI employees and volunteers, service providers, and Government departments and agencies as appropriate.
· To develop and maintain good productive working relationships with the relevant staff (and management where necessary) and with the HSE Day Opportunities Team.
· To help local SBHI Branches as appropriate.
· To help promote a positive image and reputation for SBHI National Resource Centre among Donors, Members and their families, State departments and agencies, and the general public.
· Assist service users with personal care when requested and upon demand. Please note, full training will be given, this personal care is not intimate care.
· Any other relevant tasks for responsibilities associated with the role. To liaise with the Service Manger to facilitate implementation of tasks

Skills, experience, and personal qualities
A Passion to work with individuals with a Disability to make their lives more fulfilled and promoting positive change for them when and where possible.
· A relevant qualification in the area of social care, education, clinical, disability, social work, outreach, or equivalent.
· Experience of working in, or a significant commitment to working in, the charity sector.
· Good planning and organisational skills.
· Proficiency in report writing and record keeping in the context of supporting service users.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, warm and encouraging manner.
· Proficiency in the use of standard office software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook and knowledge of social media apps.
· Ability to prioritise work in an efficient manner and to work on own initiative.
