
Midlands Simon Community is dedicated to supporting people experiencing homelessness by providing housing, services, and pathways to independent living. Our mission is to offer people a second chance, helping them transition from crisis to stability through a trauma-informed and person-centred approach. We are now seeking a compassionate and dedicated Project Worker – Housing Support Services to join our team and help individuals maintain their tenancies, rebuild their lives, and reach their full potential.
About the Role
As a Project Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting Service Users as they move towards independent living. You will provide practical assistance, advocacy, and emotional support to help individuals sustain their housing, access essential services, and develop life skills. Working in partnership with local authorities and other agencies, you will ensure that each person receives the tailored support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Build trusting, professional relationships with Service Users, promoting dignity, respect, and empowerment.
- Support individuals in securing and maintaining long-term housing, encouraging self-sufficiency and personal development.
- Respond to emergency referrals from the Local Authority, assessing needs and implementing appropriate interventions.
- Develop and implement Personal Action Care Plans, working with Service Users to identify their goals and achieve stability.
- Advocate on behalf of Service Users, ensuring they access health services, social supports, and financial entitlements.
- Work collaboratively with mental health and addiction services to provide holistic support.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with GDPR and best practice guidelines.
- Promote Midlands Simon Community’s values of compassion, inclusion, and empowerment, ensuring that all interventions are guided by a trauma-informed approach.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: At least one year in social services or a similar role.
- Qualification: A relevant qualification in Social Care or a related field is required.
- Knowledge: Understanding of homelessness, housing challenges, and support interventions.
- Skills & Values:
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work flexibly and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to Trauma-Informed Practice and Housing First principles.
- Excellent interpersonal and advocacy skills.
- A full clean driving licence (essential).
