The purpose of the role is to manage the finance function and the team while ensuring timely, accurate, financial information for Budget Holders, Project Funders, Donors and the Boards.
Job Summary
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA qualified)
- Role is based in Dublin(hybrid role, office base is Dublin 7)
- Salary is €60k - €75k per annum, depending on experience
- Full-Time Permanent Contract-35 hours per week
- Solid experience managing a team
- Experience preparing and presenting accounts, financial statements at Board level.
- Exceptional organisational skills with ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively.

Job Description
Management Accounts and Budgets
- Prepare, review and present monthly management accounts, balance sheet and cashflow statements of our various programmes for the CEO, budget holders, Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) and Board.
- Prepare annual budgets for all projects and budgets for new initiatives.
- Present budgets for approval by the ARC and Board.
Financial Accounting and Audit
- Prepare, review and present our SORP-aligned annual financial statements for our external financial audit (SORP, the Statement of Recommended Practice 2005, Accounting and Reporting by Charities).
- Manage the relationship with auditors, agree an audit plan and deadlines, prepare files.
- Prepare and submit tax claims and refunds, including the annual VAT compensation scheme for charities
Project Accounting
- Draw-down project funding in accordance with contracts/agreements.
- Review project reports. Ensure all financial deadlines set by the Funders are met.
- Work with project auditors to provide information as required.
Bank and Cash
- Manage our bank accounts, including opening and closing of accounts, updating signatories, processing credit card applications, banking online. Maximise our return on deposits.
- Monitor the cash-flow position on each bank account and make transfers when required
- Manage the payroll process and relationship with third party payroll provider.
- Authorise payments of payroll, staff expenses and purchase invoices, using EFT, online payments etc.
Manage the Team
- Develop a supportive relationship with your team of one accounts payable and one accounts receivable, and with colleagues across the organisation to ensure collaboration, especially during periods of quick turnaround.
- Provide ongoing coaching, support and on the job training
- Hold regular team meetings and appraisals on a bi-annual basis
Audit and Risk Committee
- Manage the relationship with Chair and members of ARC; take a lead on agenda and document preparation.
- Present all financial information to the ARC and advise on matters arising.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Deliver value for money – through services procured, cash management, and adherence to relevant policies.
- Provide financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets.
- Review finance related technologies, processes and procedures to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
- Document our financial standard operating procedures
- Carry out ad-hoc accounting projects and other duties as required which are consistent with the job.
Personal requirements
Qualifications and Knowledge
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA). Note: must be fully qualified.
- Knowledge of SORP accounting is advantageous but not essential.
Experience
- 5+ years post qualification experience in a similar role.
- Previous line management experience.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (SharePoint and Dynamics CRM) and accounting packages. (We use Iplicit)
Advantageous knowledge and experience
- Keen interest in sustainability and social inclusion
- Understanding of the charity and non-for-profit sector, especially compliance and accounting
- Previous experience working with funders
- Good understanding of technology
